  6. The following are technical notes and descriptions of potential problems
  7. that were not available when the documentation was printed.

  11. MAC:    To run the Macintosh titles directly from the CD-ROM 
  12.     (without a complete installation to hard disk) do the following:
  13.  
  14.         1) Double click on the Install.MAC icon.
  15.  
  16.         2) Click the Customize button
  17.  
  18.         3) Highlight the Compton's Fonts... line that 
  19.            is appropriate for your system version.
  20.            
  21.         4) Click the Install button to install only the
  22.            Compton's Fonts to your System folder.
  23.  
  24.         5) Restart the system as requested in the 
  25.            dialog box.
  26.  
  27.         6) Double click on the MOST Icon that
  28.            appears when the CD-ROM is loaded.
  29.  
  30.         7) Open the folder captioned "mac".
  31.  
  32.         8) Double click on the MOST Icon within 
  33.            that folder to start your program.

  38. DOS:    If you have chosen to run your M.O.S.T.-DOS product directly 
  39.         from the CD-ROM, without installing to your hard-disk, it will
  40.         not be possible to print to a file. The program uses a file called 
  41.         OUTPUT.TXT for printing, and since your CD-ROM is a read-only
  42.         drive, printing to this file is not possible.

  47. ALL:    For titles that use multiple databases (eg. Factomatic Business 
  48.         Library) it is not possible to correctly open a saved layout if 
  49.         the current database is not identical to the one with which the
  50.         layout was created. Opening a saved layout with a different
  51.         database can cause the program to crash.

  56. DOS:    ENHANCING SPEED AND PERFORMANCE
  57.  
  58.         One of the best qualities of the MS-DOS operating system is its 
  59.     flexibility.  The way your system is configured often affects the 
  60.     performance of software programs.  Your new M.O.S.T. disc is 
  61.     programmed to take advantage of a variety of system configurations.  
  62.         The following are suggestions for improving the speed and performance 
  63.     of the DOS version of the M.O.S.T. software:
  64.  
  65.         - Install the software onto your hard drive. This reduces the time 
  66.       spent accessing information from the CD-ROM disc.
  67.  
  68.         - If you install the program onto your hard drive, use a disk cache 
  69.       (for example, Microsoft SmartDrive).
  70.  
  71.         - Configure your system to use expanded memory. The software 
  72.       automatically takes advantage of up to 400K of expanded memory 
  73.       when it is available.
  74.  
  75.         - Use your system's extended memory. To use extended memory, type 
  76.       CNM /e at the command line when loading the program.
  77.  
  78.         NOTE: The M.O.S.T. software will not use extended memory if 
  79.     expanded memory is available.

  81.         NOTE: Using extended memory may conflict with older programs that 
  82.     also use this type of memory. If you experience problems with the 
  83.     /e option, remove all device drivers and TSRs that use extended 
  84.     memory.
